The Journey to STEM and Entrepreneurship
One of the reasons I love speaking to college students is because I see a reflection of my own journey in them. Growing up, I wasn’t exposed to fields like engineering and STEM. Like many others, I didn’t realize the vast possibilities a STEM degree could offer, including the potential to start a business and bring ideas to life through entrepreneurship. This realization came much later in my life, and it’s something I’m passionate about sharing with young minds.
Sharing My Story
Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to speak at Southeast New Mexico College. During my talk, I shared my personal journey, delving into the “Why” and the challenges I’ve faced along the way. More importantly, I highlighted the remarkable contributions of Latinos with non-traditional backgrounds. This not only helps students gain exposure, motivation, and role models but also aids faculty and staff in better coaching their first-generation college students who may still be searching for their “Why” or “What.”
Empowering the Community
A heartfelt thank you to Southeast New Mexico College and Erick Dominguez for orchestrating such an impactful event! My aim is always to leave a lasting impact on the community, and it was an absolute honor to contribute. This event was extra special because it underscored the importance of community and collaboration in education and professional development.
A Special Moment
This event was particularly meaningful as my mom attended. She hadn’t seen me in action since my TED Talk in 2019. Her presence was a blessing, and it reminded me of the significance of family support in our journeys. Sharing this moment with her was incredibly moving, and I’m grateful for these moments of connection and inspiration. 🌟
Recognition and Gratitude
Moreover, it was touching to receive recognition from Ann Halford, known as the “S2 Bill Lady,” for her extensive generosity and support to members of the Carlsbad community. Ann’s dedication to celebrating the achievements of others and inspiring them through small but meaningful gestures, like handing out $2 bills, is a testament to the power of kindness and encouragement. This acknowledgment reminded me of the importance of giving back and being a source of inspiration and motivation.
Looking Ahead
As I continue my journey, I hope to inspire more young minds to explore the endless possibilities in STEM and entrepreneurship. The road to success is rarely straightforward, but with the right mindset and support, we can overcome any obstacle. By sharing my story and the stories of others, I aim to empower students to dream big and pursue their passions, no matter how unconventional they may seem.
Thank you for reading and supporting this journey! Together, we can make a difference and pave the way for future generations.
