Today, I want to share a truth that has become clear to me: you can’t separate professional growth from personal growth. The more you advance in your personal journey, the more abundance you’ll unlock in your business and career. This is a lesson I learned firsthand during a pivotal moment in my life.
In April 2023, I was invited to give my first keynote speech at Idaho State University. It was a STEM and healthcare conference for high school students across Idaho. The week leading up to that day felt like a nightmare. I was nervous, anxious, and terrified of being vulnerable in front of hundreds of students. My coach told me, “It’s not that you’re really vulnerable; it’s that you’re using your heart.” And she was right—this wasn’t just about my career; it was about sharing me.
The fear I felt was a sign that I was about to break through something significant. For the first time, I was sharing my personal struggles—growing up in a low-income household, being diagnosed with ADHD, and dealing with a toxic parent. These weren’t just stories; they were the foundation of who I am. And as I stood on that stage, I realized that personal and professional growth are deeply intertwined.
Recently, I had another breakthrough. I wasn’t promoting my podcast on my personal Instagram due to fear rooted in a past relationship. I went no contact with a family member two years ago, and the fear that they, or others in my family, might see my posts and share them with this person was paralyzing. But I had to face the truth—I had done everything I could, and it was time to let go of the fear.
I used a technique I call Inner Child and Advocate Double Visualization. I revisited painful memories with this person, comforted my younger self, and imagined telling this person exactly how I felt. It was liberating. Healing isn’t linear, but this exercise helped me reclaim my power.
The talk at Idaho State University went phenomenally well. Once I got on stage, all that fear melted away. I connected deeply with the students and realized that there was nothing to be afraid of. My brain knew that, but my body needed to catch up.
So, if you’re on a journey—whether it’s in business, a side hustle, or life—know that the lessons you need to learn will keep appearing until you face them. Personal growth is the key to unlocking your full potential in every area of your life.
I’m excited to continue sharing my journey with you. If any of this resonates with you, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Remember, you’re not on this journey alone. We’re all in this together, growing, learning, and unlocking abundance along the way.
Thanks for being here.
